LO3: Draft Articles

1)  This is this months band of the month. Bands each month are chosen y you online through our online poll. This month it seems tandem stole your hearts. They stole the poll by 73% of your votes. Now that is astonishing. The really must be on top of their game this month.

Tandem. A band of five male members. Who all have a passion about music and a love for their own music. They all came together to form one band. That one band that came along and stole everyones hearts.
They have done a lot of gigs recently, playing at plug, corp, rocking chair and even headlining at the 02 academy. I myself attended their last gig at the rocking chair and I loved it. Their music is amazing. They really get into the spirit of everything.

Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums and even a tambourine. All the instruments included by this band. They all work really well together too.

I attended one of their gigs at the Rocking Chair and I got to chat with the lads before the show. I can see why you voted for them as the best local talent, because they not only have a really great talent within their music.

So we know this is the band of the month, so lets get started on next months band. Get your votes in on-line and be sure to vote if you have a favourite, your vote could really make the difference. The votes will be counted in two weeks so hurry while you have the chance.

2) This is some of the best local bands in your area, in different venues. I for one am definatley going to check them out, their music really gives of that local Yorkshire feel. You can also feel their passion for their music within the songs.

For the ages of the band members you really wouldn't believe the skills of some of them, especially the main singer of Tandem. He is only fifteen year old and the passion and commitment he has for the band is amazing. Plus the drive it takes to actually be in a band as well as doing GCSES proves he really is going go far with this.

Each and every band on this page started of the same way. As friends who all shared a passion and love for music. Weather it be for singing, playing guitar or even piano. They all connect through that same passion, this is what makes all these bands so great. This is mainly because you know the bands aren't doing it for the money, they’re doing it because they love it and enjoy it.

5)So, How did the band start?
Will: Well me and Josh to begin with in his bedroom. Okay that sounds worse than it is, i mean playing music obviously. Then we came across cheese knife who made us into a live band.

How long have you been together?
Ben: We have been together around well over a year now, got together in October 2013. I think.

Why are you called Bone Lab?
Josh: Well that’s an interesting story really.  When me and William  were making the album, my partner had just got a PHD in architecture  so basically, she had like hundred of boxes of lab equipment, I guess that is where the idea came from.

How regular do you  do gigs?
Ben: I’d say we have been doing them at least once a week at the start definatley.

How do you find the audiences?
Ally: Awesome, every gig we have been to people have got up and dancing to them.
Will: Yeah we get a great response, well so far anyway.
Josh: Well people really get into the music
Will: Especially with our loyal fan base, they seem to give us quite a following.

How easy do you think it is to get venues?
Ben: Well it isn’t too bad, our last gig we got asked to play, I guess it is sort of easy to get into a gig.
Will: yeah you can sort of just go to venue and see if you can play there, but then the problem is  waiting to hear back from them
What do you think of the Sheffield Music Scene?
Paris: The Sheffield music scene is great! It really is.
Ben: There is so many places to play and places evolving around Sheffield.

 Are you from Sheffield?
 Paris: I’m from Sheffield
No Name: No. I’m a southern fairy.
Will: We only have one from Sheffield.
Ben: The answer is no (laughing) we are mostly not from Sheffield.
What is the dream?
Will: Branded clothing
Josh: Money Lending
Paris: Private Jet
Ben: I want  little Lego figure
Ally: Yeah! That’s nice, yeah right we want our own range of action figures.

LO3: Photo inspiration

These are the sort of shots that I want for my magazine. The show the band both on stage and close ups. I think this would give me a good range to use within my magazine as it is all about the music. This should be fairly easy to get as the gigs will be local as the bands are all local bands therefore they will would be playing at the majority of sheffield venues.

I Think however, In my pictures I would like more colour within my design. This is generally because I think having a mixture of staging lights within the picture would make the picture seem more interesting.

LO3: Copyright issues

Magazines contain various content from adverts, interviews, photographs and even illustrations. So copyright in magazines can be an issue within the publishing process. However seen as the editors will be working for me or have a contract with the people that helped so I will be able to copyright the magazine and not have any issues with it.

However the publishing of the magazine the copyright content lasts for 25 years after the publishing year ends. Which means a lot of the information included in the magazine will be out of date by the time the copyright has come to an end.

Another issue with copyright will be the pictures I use within the magazine which I will take myself as this will cause less issues than using other peoples, This will be rather simle to do as all the content in the magazine will be local in Sheffield so wont mean going out of the way. Plus we will ask the band to approve the pictures before they are then published.

LO3: Slander and legal issues identified and addressed

People have learnt that in today's day we can easily speak our mind so easily and for it to go worldwide easy in seconds. This is generally done by the use of social media, this is generally written content onto the web so this is known as libel, The difference between libel and slander is generally libel means permanent because it can do damage for good because it can be seen forever. However Slander is a spoken word which causes less permanent damage because people will begin to forget about it.

In terms of magazine I don't think there is many issues with slander as the interviews are then written down in to the magazine which means it can be filtered by the editing team to make sure non of the material that is going to be published can cause harm to the bands. This is because the main purpose of the magazine is not to gossip about bands but get information on the bands to gain them a bigger fan base.

In terms of Libel all the material will be approved by the bands before being published to make sure the content we are giving out is the right image the want people to get from them. This is because I know there is a terms of 'Free speech' however it can cause unnecessary harm to any of the bands by making them lose fans.

LO3: Second Photoshoot outcome

LO3: Editing Process & Techniques

This is me locking a few layers together in order for me organise things around the page. This also makes it easier when choosing a colour scheme.

This is me, changing the opacity of the picture behind the title of the page to make it look more interesting as well as to keep things simple, as I didn't want to much going  of on the pages so that it makes the reader feel uncomfortable.

This is me changing the angle of the photo, so that it isn't straight so this creates a interesting look for the person reading the magazine.

This is one of the effects I used throughout my magazine to overlay shapes and images to create a nice effect so it didn't look to boring. I did this so that you could see the difference between the shapes.

This is the general layout of the indesign file, and my magazine.

LO3: First photoshoot

This is some of he images I have taken in order to use In my magazine, during a gig at propa local.

These images will create a certain colour scheme throughout my magazine as all of these images seem to have a purple/pink tint around them which gives the picture a good feel.

These photo's are also of two different bands which helps the fact that that magazine is about several different bands.
